Before launching his label in 1999, Maticevksi had already accomplished high achievements as a fashion graduate with First Class Honours and winning a Fashion Group International Award, which earned him a placement with Donna Karan. While such an opportunity may be the gateway to an illustrious career in fashion, that most can only dream of, Toni Maticevski turned down an offer of an extended position with the fashion house. But, far be it from what some may have thought was the mistake of a lifetime, as history would have it, Maticevski was destined to beat his own path to success, leaving glittering Paris for Melbourne, to start his own collection. In a few short years, Maticevksi had already cemented his place in the Australian fashion industry.

Show after show, the label has undoubtedly impressed those who watch and attend Fashion Week in Australia and New York as Maticevski makes a distinct effort to make sure to the brand is conveyed to his satisfaction with his small team in Melbourne. Maticevski’s signature style is to endure elegant and feminine silhouettes for women to feel sexy while looking classically fitted in their dresses. Combining romanticism with a flare of drama, expertly utilising volume and dimension. With a clear devotion to balancing soft and architectural draping, Toni Maticevksi creates an emphasis with lines and layering to contour and sculpt the female body form with flattery and ultimately create mastery pieces.

Like any other artist who likes to experiment, with an inspired desire to mix and play, Maticevksi has earned himself worldwide recognition for his ability to broaden his seasonal collections. “It all starts with a feeling that is set off by colours and fabrics and textures and a subtle guide in my head that starts processing a ‘look’ together. It’s quite amazing how a fabric can change the look and feel of the design, I like playing around with that,” Maticevski says. He manages to alter each garment to make its own individual statement yet a consistent theme of innovatively creative work is what truly has caught the eyes of many. Being the creative genius he is, Toni Maticevski is also an admirer of the arts. He paints when he gets the chance and also uses unique music when he debuts his runway collections to create both a sonic and visual experience. And it’s perhaps the art of making a woman feel beautiful and confident, which is the most challenging yet gratifying feat as a designer.

As for the reasons that so many women are so allured by Maticevksi’s creations, there are too numerous to encapsulate in a sentence (or in a blog!), but the throngs of fashion elites and simply fashion lovers who flocked to see his show, certainly came a long way to do so. As images of the runway are no doubt filtering through your social channels, the personal style of Maticevski show attendees was captured by Team Bloggers Boyfriend. Check it out below!
