FLOATING MARKET BANGKOK

February 26, 2018

Second day in Bangkok! Super excited to see the floating markets for the first time. There are a few floating markets around Bangkok. We visited 3 floating markets:

the Taling Chan Floating market, the Wat Takian Floating market and the Damnoen Saduak floating market.

We went to the Taling Chan Floating market then the Wat Takian Floating market in the same day.

We had a private boat tour at the Taling Chan floating market before lunch. It was quite nice, you can see how real local people living and how they built their houses above the river. But I didn’t realise how small this floating market actually is, so there were not much else to see during the one hour long boat tour except seeing the real life of local people.

The private boat tour at the Taling Chan Floating market: 1000 THB, and the public boat tour is around 80 THB.

After the boat tour, we wondered around inside the market near the river, there are more food stalls and restaurants, few selling gifts, clothes etc. Most of the restaurants offers fresh river-food, river shrimps and fish are the most popular ones. Avoid order squid and other seafood, as they may not as fresh as the ones from the rivers! After the Taling Chan floating market, we went to the Wat Takian floating market, it was about half an hour by taxi. The Wat Takian is less touristy, there are more people selling vegetables and fruits etc. Talking about accommodation, we picked the Ivy River Condo from Airbnb during our Bangkok stay, it was so cheap, only $50 per night for a one-bedroom apartment, with a 30 meters outdoor pool and a huge gym, I am updating it daily on my Insta-stories. It is a private, quite condo with 7-11 right outside, but it is a little bit far out of the city, it took us 10 minutes to get to BTS station by Uber! And the massage cross the street isn’t very good. 🙁
