WAT ARUN | THE TEMPLE OF DAWN AND BANGKOK BIGGEST FLOWER MARKET

February 27, 2018

Day 3 in Bangkok! Ittt, Harla and I visited the beautiful Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) and Bangkok flower market, also along the way, we checked out a touristy spot on the river near the flowers market where you can take boat transportations or tours. Along the river there, there are lots of small stalls selling all kinds of stuff, we had amazing Thai massages there for 250THB per person! It was one of the best massages I ever had since Cairns Australia!

Rhe Wat Arun, which is named after Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn, is one of the most striking riverside landmarks of Thailand and stands magnificently within the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River. The best time to visit is early morning before it gets crowded but don’t get disappointed if you can’t make it in the morning as you can still get an absolutely stunning view if you visit the temple at sunset and when it is lit up at night. The uniquely designed temple on the riverside is partly made up of colourfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water.

The steps of the central prang are very steep but you can climb it there is a railing to balance yourself if you wish to do so. From the highest point, you will be able to see the Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho opposite. Inside in the hall, you can also view a golden Buddha image, the intricately detailed murals that decorate the walls as well as the sculptures of Chinese soldiers and animals along the base of this central tower. While many tourists come to visit the Wat Arun, it is important to be respectful by dressing appropriately or picking up one of the cover-ups that are for rent near the entrance to be courteous within the worshipping space.
